FAQ
Questions I'm often asked.
For wedding cakes, as soon as you know your date. I take on a limited number of weddings, and dates in the season fill up quickly. Celebration cakes need at least one week's notice.
Yes, 15 portions.
One-tier cakes start from 1,500 DKK, and cakes from 25 portions start at 97 DKK per portion. All prices include 25% VAT. The final price depends on the design.
A non-refundable deposit secures your date, and the remaining balance is due before your celebration.
Three times a year I hold a Tasting Box Day: a box with my six signature flavours for 400 DKK, to try at home before you decide.
The sketch shows the direction we agree on together: colours, mood, structure and details. The finishing touches come to life by hand, as I make the cake.
For wedding cakes, yes, until about one month before the wedding, when we confirm the final guest number, flavour and design. For celebration cakes, changes are possible up to one week before.
A new date is possible if it's still free in my calendar. If you cancel, the payments made up to that point are non-refundable.
No. Every cake is covered in white chocolate ganache.
Gluten-free cakes are +5 DKK and lactose-free +10 DKK per portion. Not every flavour can be made completely lactose-free, so we'll choose together. I don't make vegan cakes, but I can make vegan desserts for guests who need them. My kitchen handles nuts, gluten, milk and eggs, so I can't guarantee a cake is 100% free from traces. Tell me about any allergies, and we'll find what works.
Yes, cakes of up to two tiers can be collected from my studio in Amager, Copenhagen. I'll send you the address when we confirm your order. Three-tier cakes and cakes with a more complex structure are always delivered by me.
From the moment you collect it, the cake is in your hands, and I can't take responsibility for any damage after that. Carry it on a flat surface, for example the floor of the car, and keep it away from heat and direct sunlight. When you collect it, I'll give you a few tips on how to store and serve it.
Keep it in the fridge and enjoy it within three days. For the best flavour and texture, take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving. If there's any left over, you can freeze it for up to a month.
I make a small anniversary cake for you instead, in the same flavour as your wedding cake. A top tier stands at the venue and then in a fridge before it reaches a freezer, while the anniversary cake is frozen as soon as it's made, so it keeps much better. It serves two or three and costs 300 DKK. I bring it with your wedding cake, or you can collect it from my studio within a week after the wedding.
Wrap it tightly in cling film and keep it in the freezer for up to a year. When you're ready to eat it, put it in the fridge for a few hours to thaw slowly.
Yes, across Copenhagen and Zealand. The price depends on the distance and the size of the cake. Celebrating somewhere else in Denmark? Get in touch and we'll see what's possible.
Polka Cake Studio takes pre-orders only. It's a studio, not a shop, so there are no walk-in sales.
Yes, from 1,200 DKK. I especially recommend it for large tiered, antigravity and sculptural cakes. Your venue may still charge its own fee for plates and service, so it's worth checking with them.
Of course. You can add up to five images to the enquiry form, or send me your Pinterest board.
I don't copy other artists' cakes. Send me the photo anyway: it shows me what you love, and I'll design something in a similar spirit, made for you.
